Melbourne is amazing. We just flew down from Sydney today, and I can already tell I'm going to love it here. Sydney is a bit like New York; people in suits rushing around with their "take away" espressos. Melbourne seems to be a bit more laid back and friendly. We found a Belgian "bier" garden a couple blocks away and stopped for a late lunch. The people there were so friendly and willing to give recommendations on where to go and what to see. I'm so excited to finish exploring! We have the rest of tonight (7pm here), all day tomorrow, and then we leave on Sunday sometime (the day after next) to start driving down the Great Ocean Road. Apparently it's going to be absolutely amazing, although we need to watch out for "bush fires." I guess it's that time of year. Although...it's been rainy lately, so we "should be quite okay." :) I imagine it will be exciting none-the-less!
P.S. I forgot to mention that the lady guide on our harbour cruise in Sydney was HILARIOUS! She kept talking about "yummy" Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and all the nude beaches around Sydney, which she assured us she's become very familiar with over the years of guiding this cruise. One of them she said has been around since the 70's, but "don't get too excited, ladies. It's the same men since the 70's there..." Another beach she mentioned has "...a regular I see everyday on the cruise. He's a young lad in his 30's or 40's' and stands on a big rock to wave hello every morning." Just imagine that with an Australian accent coming from a slightly overweight lady in her 50's with bottle red hair. I'm pretty sure she gets way too much excitement from her job! Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy on the morning of our cruise, so we missed out on all that excitement! bummer... :)
I highly recommend Captain Cook's morning coffee cruise, should any of you end up in Sydney soon.
Hope things are going well back in the states! Love ya!
