When did we become celebrities?!?!

Wow - what a day! I think we've now seen all there is to see in Mumbai. 6 hours of being in a car with our driver, Ravi, will do that to you. Here are a few of the highlights:

1. Never, ever drive in Mumbai. I'm convinced you have to be born and raised here to know what to do with the crazy intersections that don't have stoplights, little rickshaws and tiny taxis zooming around town, livestock randomly in the middle of the road (cows, goats, oxen, cats, and dogs), and the few "suggested" stop lights along the way. Good thing "renting" a car comes with a driver here! Ravi was amazing. There's no doubt he knows everything there is to know about Mumbai, or...is really good at lying to naive tourists. :)

2.  Apparently Emily and I are famous! I can't tell you how many times we were stopped and asked to have our photograph taken with locals. The best part is that some guys apparently had them printed somewhere and then found us again to show us the printed out pictures! The greasy sunscreen, smelly bug spray, extremely attractive travel pants, and comfy shirt seem to have been major attractors!

3. Watch where you step. Trash cans seem optional. Although...they do have this big outdoor laundry area called Dhobi Ghat where people gather laundry from all over the city and then wash, starch, and dry them in the middle of the city. It was interesting to see everyone hard at work, and it's apparently a trade passed down through the generations. If your father worked there, then that's what you will do.

There's more, but I'm just too plum tired to go through them right now. It's 11:30pm, and we've somehow managed to stay awake (mostly) our entire first day over here! Way to go, us!

Love you!
